First Half Beeston got today’s game underway, and started at a very fast tempo, which saw Cotgrave struggle to defend against. Beeston took a deserved lead on 5 minutes after putting Cotgrave under some intense pressure. Beeston continued to dominate and kept pushing forward looking for a second goal, but Cotgrave fortunately caught them with a quick counter attack, and Johnny Commins made no mistake on 9 minutes to equalise. Beeston kept the tempo up, and took the lead for a second time, scoring in the 15 th minute to make it 2-1. Cotgrave began to realise they needed to roll their sleeves up and dig deep if they were going to get anything out of the game. As Cotgrave stepped it up a gear, Will Robinson and Johnny Commins scored goals on 19 and 21 minutes respectively. Half Time: Cotgrave 3- 2 Beeston Second Half Cotgrave got the second half underway, and after a good half time talking to, started to play the ball around much better. Johnny Commins completed his hat trick on 27 minutes to make it 4-2, but Beeston quickly replied and pulled a goal back to make it 4-3 on 29 minutes. Cotgrave began to dominate the second half, and Johnny Commins added a fourth goal to his tally on 32 minutes. Further goals from Keenan Berry, Will Robinson and Keaton Powell saw Cotgrave finish 8-3 winners. Final Score: Cotgrave 8-3 Beeston Summary Beeston came to Cotgrave today with one thing in mind, and that was to finish their season off with a good performance. Beeston had improved a lot since we last met them, and certainly made us work hard, especially in the first half. Well done to Beeston for a great performance against us, and well done to your goal scorers who took their goals well. Although most teams in our division have played their final game, we still have 2 games left, starting with league champions Netherfield on Wednesday night, followed by Long Eaton next Sunday. We have had to play a lot of games in a short space of time over the last couple of weeks, and I know how hard and tiring it has been for all of our players. I would just like to thank all of the players for giving their all, and ask them to continue to in our remaining 2 games. Fourth place is still in our own hands, and this will be a massive achievement if we can do it. I certainly believe we can do it, as you have proved you can compete against anyone this season. Well done for today’s result, scoring 8 goals is the highest we have scored in a game. |
