First half:Cotgrave got off to a flying start today, when Johnny Commins scored in the first minute. The boys continued to battle well in midfield, winning most of the challenges, before the ball was knocked wide to Keenan Berry who fired the ball past the Beeston keeper from 25 yards out, to make it 2-0 on 3 minutes. Keenan doubled his tally on 6 minutes with another well taken goal, to make it 3-0. Beeston started to get back into the game a little, but never really looked like breaking Cotgrave down, and Jake had very little to do. Cotgrave continued to push, and it seemed like everyone wanted to get on the score sheet. Keenan Berry completed his hat trick on 23 minutes to give us a 4-0 half time lead. Half time Beeston 0 – 4 CotgraveSecond half: Having made several changes at half time, the boys took a good 10 minutes to get into the game, but all battled well. Beeston attacked more than Cotgrave in the first 10 minutes of the half, but Keaton Powell was there in defence to clear the danger. Keenan Berry grabbed his fourth goal on 37 minutes to make it 5-0. After some well-taken corners, Zak Bemrose came close to scoring his first goal, but it just went wide of the post. Joshua Childs worked hard in midfield, and played a great through ball to Johnny Commins for him to score his second goal of the game on 41 minutes. Johnny completed his hat trick on 46 minutes to make it 7-0 to Cotgrave. Final Score Beeston 0– 7 Cotgrave Summary Having already beaten Beeston in the cup a few weeks ago, we went into this game confident of beating them again. After going 3-0 up after just 6 minutes today, we seemed to forget about passing the ball, and tried to do too much individually. If we had continued to pass the ball and play as a team, I think we could have reached double figures today. Although we won the game, it wasn’t the best performance I have seen this season. Well done to everyone today, this is our first ever league win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You now have 2 weeks rest before our next game. Also well done to Beeston who battled well for the whole game. |

I always look for your score first on a Sunday and am delighted with the progress you have made. I hope I will be reading many more victory reports this season. Well done to all the players, keep listening and learning and who knows how far you can go. Also well done to Martin and Gary who must be delighted as well, the effort you guys put in make it worth it when results like this happen.
