East Leake Bantams 6 Cotgrave Colts Claret 3
6th January 2008

First half

East Leake took the lead in under a minute today, after some great passing and clinical finishing. Cotgrave never really threatened East Leake in the first half, and allowed them to dominate the game. East Leake scored a further three goals on 11, 14, and 19 minutes to make it 4-0 at half time.

Half time: East Leake 4– 0 Cotgrave

Second half

East Leake attacked straight from the kick off and grabbed two early second half goals on 26 and 28 minutes to make it 6-0. Cotgrave started to play the football that we had seen in previous games, and this started to give us a little bit of hope. Will Robinson scored on 31 minutes, and Johnny Commins grabbed two goals on 38 and 50 minutes, to make it 6-3.

Full time: East Leake 6–3 Cotgrave

Summary

Having not been beaten since 7th October, our great run ended today against a very good East Leake side, who thoroughly deserved their win. Cotgrave never really got started today, and were punished for their mistakes in the first half. The second half saw a big improvement, and as the game went on, we actually looked the better side. Being 6-0 down left us with a huge mountain to climb, but credit must go to everyone for not giving up, and well done for battling right up to the final whistle. I think if we had started our comeback a little sooner, we may have got something out of the game, as we were well on top in the last 10 minutes.

We have another difficult game next week against League leaders Long Eaton, so we need to get off to a much better start. See you all at training on Wednesday.
