First Half

Gotham got the game underway today kicking uphill in the first half, and surprised Cotgrave early on with a good effort on goal in the first minute. However, Jake Reed managed to push the ball around the post for a corner. Cotgrave cleared the ball well, and Will Robinson threaded the ball through to Keenan Berry who’s first shot was dropped by the keeper, but Keeno pounced on to the loose ball and fired it into the net, to make it 1-0 on 3 minutes. Gotham frustrated Cotgrave, and had much of the possession, but Cotgrave took their chances, and scored two further goals through Will Robinson on 15 minutes, and Keenan Berry doubled his tally on 24 minutes.

Second Half

Cotgrave piled on the pressure throughout the second half, and came close to scoring on several occasions. Gotham battled well, but Cotgrave’s persistence paid off when Johnny Commins scored his first goal of the game in the 40 th minute. Cotgrave passed the ball superbly in the final ten minutes, and really made Gotham work hard. Keenan Berry completed his hat trick with a superb strike from outside the area to make it 5-0.

Summary

Gotham made us work hard in the first half, and were unlucky not to score a couple of goals themselves. The difference between the two teams was the quality in our finishing today. Cotgrave worked the ball much better in the second half, and some great passing and accurate crossing made the second half much more comfortable for us.
