After some great pre season performances, I thought the boys would be well up for the first match of the new season. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Netherfield battled and chased for every ball all over the pitch, and for long periods we just sat back and let them boss the game. We were fortunate to only concede one goal in the first half, and I don’t remember the Netherfield keeper having to make a single save. Half time – Netherfield 1 Cotgrave 0Netherfield started the second half well, and it was not surprising to see them score a quick second goal. All our heads went down after the second goal went in, and before we knew it, they deservedly scored another three. Cotgrave never played like a team today, and many players looked tired and uninterested. Final Score – Netherfield 5 Cotgrave 0Summary: Ok, it is not the start we all wanted, but hopefully it was the kick up the backside we needed. We need to put today’s game behind us now, and work hard in training this week to prepare for next Sundays game. Although it was only our first game today, if we continue to play like that, we are going to be in for another tough season. We all know that we have a squad capable of scoring goals and working hard for each other, so lets get back on track next week and put things right.Well done to Netherfield today, a well deserved win. Good luck for the rest of the season. |
Feedback: name: Alan Involvement: Cotgrave Parent Come on boys, I saw you play against East Leake in the pre-season friendly and although you lost the game, you were by far the better team. Play like you did then and you will do ok this season. Keep up the hard work Martin and Gary. |
Did you see things differently? Do you have anything to add? We will add feedback to the bottom of the report, but PLEASE refrain from personal criticism, whether it is players, referee, linesman, managers etc. If you do, then it will not be added. Try as much as possible to keep it positive.
