Although Cotgrave won this match comfortably Beeston never stopped trying throughout and contributed enormously to a match that was played in good spirit by both teams. Despite the score, keeper Nathan Burgin did have some work to do, more so in the first half where Max Robertson opened the scoring with a goal from a Luke Black pass in the second minute. One minute later David Young took the ball down the left wing and crossed for Lewis Hopkinson to finish at the far post, then in the eighth minute Hopkinson crossed from the right, the Beeston defence failed to clear and the ball ended up in the back of the net. On fifteen minutes Ben Halcro scored with a good shot from the edge of the area, and after a further three minutes Black also finished from the edge of the area as Cotgrave passed the ball around well. Black was involved again a few minutes later, passing the ball to Jordan Cumberland who scored with a good quality shot. Six goals in the first half would have been a good return but in the last minute Cotgrave added two more. Cumberland finished from a left wing cross before Robertson did the same from a right wing cross. The second half was more of the same as Cotgrave added three goals in the first three minutes. Black grabbed his second goal, Robertson was the first to a hat-trick with an excellent half volley from a right wing cross, and Aidan Sheppard fired home one of his unstoppable trademark shots from the edge of the area. Cotgrave continued to dominate with Kit Weir driving forward on the left and James Staples setting up some good attacks through the middle. Matthew Hodgett played well at right back and Kris McCann completed some neat passes right across the park. A lull in the goals followed before on forty-seven minutes Cumberland scored to claim his second hat-trick of the season. Harry Normington and Elliott Coulthard-Gaunt, who had both given commanding displays at the back, moved up the pitch where Coulthard-Gaunt found space for a tremendous drive that gave the Beeston keeper no chance. Finally in the last minute Thomas Staples finished from close range to make it fourteen. Well done Cotgrave. Man of the Match - Luke Black |
