On an extremely cold and blustery day Cotgrave went into a two goal lead against Pegasus within seven minutes and never looked back. On six minutes Max Robertson executed a superb thirty yard lob after the Pegasus keeper had come out to the edge of his area to clear the ball. One minute later Roberston again took an excellent ball from Elliott Coulthard-Gaunt down the left side of the defence and hit a cross shot which the referee was well placed to see had gone over the line before being cleared.

Cotgrave continued to attack Pegasus with Jordan Cumberland’s passing linking the attacking play and Robertson dominant on the left. Harry Normington was unlucky not to convert another Robertson cross, before in the twenty-second minute a right wing cross by Thomas Staples was finished by Luke Black. With one minute left of the half Ben Halcro put Robertson through for his hat-trick and Cotgrave‘s fourth.

The second-half saw Cotgrave continue to push forward, which meant that keeper Nathan Burgin had little to do for most of the game. Three minutes into the half Aidan Sheppard crossed from the right and Kit Weir tucked the ball home from close range. Matthew Hodgett and David Young continued to press Pegasus on the right, with Young unlucky not to score with a good shot, and Kris McCann joined the attack on the left.

Black claimed his second in the fourteenth minute with a good low shot and five minutes later Lewis Hopkinson scored Cotgrave’s seventh, driving home a loose ball in the area. Then in the final minute Weir scored his second, pouncing on a rebound off the keeper following a good run and shot from James Staples.

It was good to see Cotgrave playing with both drive and enthusiasm, qualities that enabled them to dominate this game.
