FC Interski 5 Cotgrave Colts 3
1st December 2007

It was a freezing cold day, but the football on offer warmed up spectators on both sides. This was a cracking game. Cotgrave was without defender Tom Morley and keeper Olly Vickers. Jacob was making his debut for the Colts in goal. Interski went into a 3 goal lead, but that didn't reflect how the game had gone. Cotgrave was creating some really good chances, but unlike Interski, our finishing was not clinical. Interski's looked very comfortable with the ball and passed it around really well.

Half time: Interski 3 Cotgrave 0

The second half started with Cotgrave closing down the Interski players quicker and this really worked well. Still lots of chances were being created by Cotgrave, but still we couldn't break the deadlock. Then against the run of play, Interski added a 4th goal. Ryan thought he'd scored, but the linesman's flag went up, let's just say he made a mistake. Fair play to the lads they kept battling and got their rewards from a great strike by Jake Messenger. Minutes later Cotgrave pulled another goal back to make it 4-2 after a good run and cross by Jake, was met by Glen Dale. Cotgrave was really on top and it looked as though the win would come. Ryan managed to make it 4-3 with a great strike. Then another strange decision prevented Cotgrave going level when one Interski defender miss-hit his clearance and the ball hit the other defender in the face, the ball dropped to Greg who was one-on-one with the keeper when the referee stopped play. The ref was very close to the player, so could easily look to see he was okay. Anyway, the ball was played back to the Cotgrave keeper at the other end of the pitch. Cotgrave was pushing lots of players forward and were caught out by an Interski attack. Jacob managed to make a great save, but the rebound fell to an Interski player.

Full time: Interski 5 Cotgrave 3

There was lots of really good performances today. The battling qualities that have been missing of late returned. If we'd been as clinical with our finishing as what Interski were, then the result would have been different. Well done lads!!

Once again luck goes against us, two quick goals from Interski in the early stages always had us chasing the game, but with better finishing the 3 nil half time score should've been cut. Interski scored early again in the second half to make it four, this with the wind made cotgrave stir into action, a great goal from Jake made it 4-1, Glen then scored from a great cross from Matthew, then Ryan (at last) made it 4-3, in between Greg had a great chance when 1 on 1 with the keeper the ref decided to blow up after an Interski player was hit in the face with the ball, also an offside decision denied cotgrave a perfectly good goal. In all though a great performance again but with no reward to show for it, well done to interski who played some of the best football ive seen in this league with the whole team working as one.

a lot of good things today but again the score went against us. we created as many if not more chances than Interski today but the luck was against us. This carried on to our night out at the dogs, with not many winners coming our way. we kept on betting on the dogs and we did not give in just like the team today who battled on when the game looked lost and very nearly got the point we deserved. Interski played the better football with some great passing and finishing but we showed great character today and nearly did a TOTTENHAM. Well done to Jacob making his debut for cotgrave today he showed he will become a valuable member of the team.

Thanks for the kind words about our football. We try to play the game the right way but like yourselves don't always get the rewards. This was a great game and we look forward to the return. I wish all involved in your club the best of luck for the rest of the season
