For the first time this season i am going to speak my mind.

For the first time the lads got stuck in and challenged well for the ball as they have been asked to do in training and have worked on. Once again a diabolical Referee today gave everything to Interski and only the odd one or two to us. Once again lads i thought you all worked well and did not deserve the result today, you were good enough to have got a draw but i feel too many changers may have upset the team as we gave away two quick sloppy goals. Keep fighting to the end.

I asked John (a Tottenham fan) before the game, if you could choose one result a Cotgrave win today or a Tottenham win tomorrow v Chelsea, which would you go for? He responded that he'd really like to see the lads get a win against an established YEL 1st division team and that would be his choice. Oh well, at least Tottenham beat Chelsea and he was there to see them lift the trophy.

Back to the U14's. Cotgrave didn't lose this game because of the referee. However, he was easily influenced by the Interski players and supporters who never stopped shouting for decisions all game long. Strepsils must do a roaring trade in the Ravenshead area! Should Interski's penalty have been awarded? YES! Did a frustrated Ryan deserve a yellow card? Yes! To be fair it could've been red.

John made changes at half time when we were 1-0 up and within a few minutes we were 2-1 down. Sometimes you get away with it and sometimes you don't. John had 3 subs who'd given up their Saturday afternoon to play for the Colts and it's a difficult job (massive understatement) for John when and how to make the changes.

So, we can blame the ref, blame John's changes, blame their players for watching too much Match of the Day and copying the professionals falling all over and screaming at the ref, but that doesn't explain why we are allowing players free headers 1-yard from our goal line. It doesn't explain why we are not busting a gut to get back, when the ball goes past us. Why we are treating the football as though it's a bomb about to explode. John felt that the Interski players were at the ref all the game because the Interski supporters were doing the same. If we start blaming the referee's for not picking up points, then that will also impact on our lads.

If any of the lads are still awake after reading my response, then what I would say is that we need to pull together and work hard for yourselves and for each other. This needs to start in training. You've set yourselves standards during certain games this season, but we need to do it on a regular basis. I'm sure we can get another win in our remaining four games.

Chris is 100% correct about referee's they seldom cost a team the game. When any individual or sporting team cross the white line onto the sporting arena the manager nor spectators can't do much to help them,it is down to individuals and the team to show grit, determination and a stronger willingness to win than the opposition.I did not think Interski were any better than you on Saturday, but perhaps they showed a little more self belief.Did anybody see Berbatov take the penalty ? that is what i mean by self belief nobody in the ground thought he was going to miss least of all himself. Chins up

I wasn't at todays game, but would just like to add my support to all the players and management. The only thing i've seen missing in recent weeks is confidence, and as soon as the confidence is restored the better. We know that winning games will help with confidence, but the wins won't come unless you start enjoying the football too! Last season you all encouraged eached other and played with a smile on your faces. So stop feeling sorry for yourselves, keep your heads up and lets get back that team spirit you once had. We all know you can compete at this level, so go out and enjoy your remaining fixtures.

this was a funny game today and it is easy to look back at games and think we should of done better and could of done things different but anyone who has watched the lion king will know it doesn't matter its in the past. we have to look forward not back and enjoy our remaining games. every player deserves a full game every week but its hard to get all 17 players on at the same time if i could we would play with 5 center halfs like the mighty spurs did on sunday when they won the only cup in football that realy matters. did i mention i was at wembly to see spurs lift the great cup on sunday. i spoke to the ref on saturday at the end of the game and told him i felt sorry for him reffing the game because he had about 30 people trying to ref the game from the side lines and a number of players trying to ref it. we have to stay positive and support each other and all pull the same way both players and supporters. what ever happens remember its only football and both teams can't win just ask chelsea football club who lost on sunday to the mighty spurs in the only cup final that matters this season. so well done to the lads this week and well done to the mighty spurs ( or leeds reserves as brian calls them )for winning the great cup.

if you think i have milked this one a bit then i can only say training on wednesday night will be fun.
