Half A lovely Sunny but chilly Saturday morning saw the U'7s taking on Dunkrik. We Knew that this would be a very tough match as the reputation of the Dunkirk team is very very high and I believe a few of their players play for Forest Academy. AS usual our boys were rearing to go. We were short of a goalkeeper this week. Harry Haywood being out of action due to an operation. So a big get well from all of us to Harry and Alex Milton being on holiday so the honour of being our keeper for the game went to Harry Williams. AS usual we started off the match kicking downhill and good pressure was put on by the Blues, a good run by Sam got us and the first corner of the game. A good ball was put in and saw the Dunkirk defence clear it out of their area. The ball was sent straight up to our goal by Dunkirk but great defending by The fantastic Harvey saw us keep the score at 0-0. It was good end to end football Dillon having his shot saved by the Dunkirk keeper and Harvey standing his ground at the other end. Some fantastic football by Craig kept the ball in Dunkirk's half for alot of the time. Dunkirk then broke through but only managed to hit the post and then their No 5 was Through on goal but a great tackle by Curtis kept the score at half time at 0-0. Half Time: Cotgrave 0 Dunkirk 0 Second Half We started off the second half in much the same way gaining a quick corner which Dunkirk kicked off the line we maintain the good pressure but Dunkirk also maintained some excellent defending to keep the ball out of their net. Dunkirk then broke free and their no 10 slotted in a great goal past our keeper 0-1 to Dunkirk. The Colts heads didn't drop though and a good run down the left hand line by Jordon saw us get a throw in. A good throw was taken but again Dunkirk kept clearing off their line. A corner to Cotgrave saw Dunkirk clear the ball to their 2 front runners who were clear on goal but a Great crunching tackle by Elliott kept them from scoring again. A fantastic goal kick by Harry saw Jordan free on goal but again Dunkirk managed to clear. Dunkirk seemed to take the edge a bit towards the end of the second half and scored a very good goal to make it 0-2. They were unlucky not to score again but Harry make a brilliant save pushing the ball round the post for a corner. Final Score: Cotgrave 0 - 2 Dunkirk SUMMARY Boys you were fantastic today and the 0-2 result does not reflect on how well you played. We are looking better every week. As The Manager said anyone of you could have got man of the match this week and a very hard choice for Steve to decide who should get the award. It was narrowed down to 2 players Craig and Harvey and after alot of thinking Steve gave it to Harvey Congratulations Harvey. I know it was difficult for Steve to decide. CRAIG you were fantastic too well done. Roll on next week when we take on Hucknall. A big thanks to Dunkirk for a most enjoyable match Reporter Amanda Williams |
