Rangers 2 Cotgrave Colts Blue 4 |

December 2007 |
This weeks game took the mighty blues up to Westdale lane in Gedling to face Trent Rangers on a cold frosty pitch. It was decided we would play 8 a side instead of the usual 7, and we would play three twenty minutes to give the lads a longer run out. This could of back fired for Cotgrave as we were without the influential pair of Elliot and Craig for the trip, but the boys dug deep in the cold conditions and showed great determination and concentration to dominate the game. Cotgrave took an early lead through Sam when he turned in an Alex Milton corner, sending his shot low into the corner. The lead was short lived though when Rangers equalised with a stinging long range free kick that left Harry with no chance. The second third saw Rangers take the lead when they broke from a Cotgrave attack to score with a well worked goal. It was Rangers number 21 doing the damage and looked dangerous on the ball every time he got hold of it. Cotgrave then took the game by the scruff of the neck and charged on to equalise with a great strike from Sam. Cotgrave now looked dominant and piled on the pressure with some great runs from Sam, Alex, Dillin, Jordan, Harry and Matthew. It was only a matter of time before the blues would be rewarded for there good work and that came when Jordan was brought down and coolly converted from the spot. The last third was one way traffic with the blues virtually camped in Rangers half. With Harvey and Harry forming a good partnership at the back, Curtis flying around the midfield like a terrier and Harry looking more and more confident in goal Cotgrave’s midfield and forwards got more confidence and looked dangerous every time they went in Rangers half. Dillin finished the game as a contest with some lethal finishing, the second a 20 yard screamer! A few late late mazy runs from Matthew and Jordan could of resulted in a couple of penalties, but all in all it was a great result and one Cotgrave will be proud of and can build on. A big well done to all the boys for their commitment they are putting in every week and every single one is growing in stature each week. Keep up the good work. m.o.m – Curtis ‘Pearcy’ Beardsmore |
