This cold and windy saturday morning saw our u-7 blues meeting up with westbridgford again. would it be different this time on our own turf?? FIRST HALF Despite the wind cotgrave got off to a great start as sam took a shot at goal but just missed as it went to the side, westbridgford started displaying some excellent tackling but it just wasn't a match for our brilliant defender -harvey,who just seems to get better as every week goes by. five minutes into the game saw sam take another spetacular shot at the westbridgford goalie, the shot was long and hard but again just went to the side. westbridgford took a throw in just past the half way line which alex recieved and took it all the way and straight into the back of the net giving us the lead of 1-0. after which alex displayed a lovely version of mud sliding as he ran and slid on his knees whilst punching the air with delight! WELL DONE ALEX. the westbridgeford player named alfie wheeler was showing some brilliant tackling abilities but again one of our strong players -jordan took a great shot for goal but this time the goalie caught it keeping the score for the first half at 1-0 to us. Half time: Cotgrave 1 Bridgford 0Second half saw us just as strong as the first half keeping the opposition goalie on his toes as dillin took a great long shot at goal but the goalie just got in the way again, within seconds though sam had our ball back and took a high shot but it went over the top of the post. westbridgford faced our goalie alot more in the second half with quite a few attempts at goal which also saw our harry the goalie do some brilliant saves but one save was not meant to be as westbridgford tried another and this time slid it straight in making it neck and neck. Full time: Cotgrave 1 Bridgford 1 Overall both sides displayed some really good football and was a joy to watch, goalie -harry did some lovely long kicks, harvey some brilliant defending and sam seemed quite at home trying to get it in the back of the net which earned him man of the match. well done sam. on asking the westbridgford manager for man of the match for his side it came as no suprise to me that he named alfie wheeler as he would have been my choice also! Brilliant play by everyone and well done to you all. Also a big thankyou to matthew geggie's mum for supplying some nice hot drinks for those who wanted one as i know from those who had one it was much appreciated. Reporter: Jennie Hindson |
