Edwalton
Cavaliers 1 Cotgrave Colts 4 |
27th
October 2007 |
A wet damp October
day saw the meeting of Edwalton Cavaliers and Cotgrave Colts u7 Clarets.
Cotgrave were the stronger team straight from the
off with Thomas Hallcro commanding the right hand side. The first
chance came to Cotgarave, when Hallcro delivered a lovely ball to Vaux
who finished calmly. The second goal came from a corner from the left,
hit into the box by Trueman which Norris latched onto to bury in the
net 2-0 .
Cotgrave
had 3 or 4 more chances but could not capitalise. Edwalton got a goal
back 10 min from time to keep Cotgrave on there toes. Two late strikes
from Jack Hill sealed a much deserved 4 - 1 victory. A good solid performance
from the two defenders today Owen Lucas & Kenny Robertson, well done
and well done to everyone else.
Man-of-the-match: Thomas Hallcro

Below is reproduced from the Edwalton website - Edwalton Game 1: Another fine performance from Edwalton (Red) which built on previous performances but without the desired scoreline. A somewhat slow start from Edwalton allowed Cotgrave to build up a head of steam and they took the lead from a corner which a Cotgrave player hit home from close range. Edwalton came more into the game with Paul in goal, keeping Cotgrave at bay and continuing his great run of form. Ethan and Jordan got in some great interceptions and tackles in defence but Cotgrave added a second before the break. A brighter second half from Edwalton saw good work from Joel (Captain for the day) and AJ in Midfield with more tackles and passing which was pleasing to see. Ethan surged forward from defence and got in a couple of good shots from distance. Robbie and Jack worked hard up front and following a goal kick from Paul, Robbie found himself through one on one with the keeper and only a good save denied him. Cotgrave ran out 2-0 winners but Edwalton (red) can be proud of another good performance and look forward to the next match. Game 2: True grit and determination. Edwalton Blue from the first whistle showed the sort of spirit needed to win games and continue the tradition of Edwalton FC. Dan and Jack G at the back were a solid force against Cotgrave’s pacey front line, good tackling and sound passing up to the midfield. In the middle of the park we had Oscar and Connor who defended well and attacked equally well. They helped Dan and Jack when we were defending and helped Harvey and Ryan when we were attacking, a fine pairing. Upfront Harvey and Ryan worked hard, and even tracked back when necessary. At half time 0-0. In the second half the game continued in the same vein. Some committed tackling and slick passing put Ryan in a goal scoring position and he took his chance like a true center foward. 1-0 Edwalton. Looking good for a result right to the end, some brave goal keeping from Raul kept us in lead but then final 2 minutes lapse in concentration and two goals leaked, unlucky Edwalton. |
