The u7 Clarets made it 4 successive wins with an impressive performance against the u7s from Farndon. The match was played in 4 periods of 10 minutes with Cotgrave going down the slope at the start. Cotgrave created a hatful of chances in the opening period but just couldn’t find the net, thwarted by excellent goalkeeper, determined defenders and a few off target shots. The best chance fell to Kenny, but his well struck penalty was superbly saved by the Farndon keeper. The second period produced 4 goals with Cotgrave still the more dominant team. The first was calmly slotted away by our leading marksmen Charlie, a second followed soon afterwards when Liam scored from a tight angle from the right. Lewis replaced Jack in goal for the final 3 periods and was unlucky as Farndon pulled a goal back. After Lewis had initially made an excellent save from the first shot the striker followed up to place the loose ball in the net. Lewis showed excellent handling and bravery today to help restrict Farndon to just the one goal and we now have a number of good options for goal keeper. Last weeks goal keeping hero James was playing in midfield today and was involved along with his fellow midfield players in a number good passing moves as the team continue to improve each week. The Colts third goal was an excellent lob over the advancing keeper by Jack who had a strong game today when playing up front. In the third period going back down the slope our Player of the Match Thomas was on the score sheet after bursting down the right past two players and smashing the ball into the goal, its also good to see Thomas celebrate his goal with a run round the pitch. Harry got the goal his all round play on the left deserved before Jack got his second with a shot from 20 yards. Great finish by Jack but he didn’t quite understand why the management had a word with him about taking the ball a bit closer next time. In conclusion another excellent performance, defensively strong again today and our 4 successive victories built on the base of only 3 goals conceded, Kenny, Owen and Josh shared the defensive duties and although not as busy as last week, kept their positions very well. Nice to see 5 different players on the score sheet today and Robbie was certainly unlucky not to get a goal, he got himself into excellent positions on a number of occasions but just couldn’t beat the excellent Farndon keeper. Thanks again to Liam for being the Ref today and to the parents who helped take down the goals and to those that ran the Tuck shop & raffle. |
