well what can i say about this one it was an absolute corker! vernons playing for 1st place, cotgrave battling to prove a point.
 
from kick off vernon quick assault coming forward producing two great stops from the cat (adam)! cotgrave clear the lines and make way forward into vernon half. out of nowhere jordan has a speculative long range pop at goal and yes yes yes! its in! looping over the stranded keeper !!! 1-0 cotgrave what a start! vernon counter quickly with quality crossing play but all to no avail, luke and jacob absorbing pressure well. jordan back to help but takes a knock in the process. another fine strike from vernon forward stopped by the cat(adam) but unfortunate bounce trickled in for 1-1. cotgrave battling hard in midfield with defence absorbing vernons efforts well. some great tackling,  well done lads. then from nothing really, jacob sees a chance and from our own half some 20 yards out? bangs it and yes yes! yes!! its in!!
cotgrave back in front 2-1. awesome bring it on! cotgrave go for it midfield producing half chances for luis and harry who continued to worry vernon defence with their skills and runs. front pair in the thick of the action. vernon break forward at this point  and work a long range effort of their own this time there was no chance for adam and vernon go into half time with the score at 2-3. what a game!!
 
second half. early pressure straight from the whistle cotgrave on the march forward! a corner earnt which is cleared and vernon counter with a break of their own, however the efforts are easily dealt with by substitute clarke and luke. cotgrave spot a weakness in vernons armour and another long range effort from luke, this time go's just wide. liam and luis continue to make nuisances of themselves and come close with another well worked effort. vernon press forward and an impressive passing move produces another goal 2-4. vernon this time trying the long range stuff but adam easily dealing with. clarke and luke keeping it tight at the back with some impressive man marking and clearances. jordan constantly battling in the middle of the park and vernon are looking second best for a change! a free kick is earned by cotgrave and luis comes close with a great effort. rain starts and its messy in the middle of the park ben, james and luke working hard but vernon press on in the last few minutes earning a corner. a messy scrambled goal in cold rain and its 2-5.
 
final whistle 2-5 to vernon. a rather flattering scoreline in what was a terrific match to watch, both sides mighty impressive, and a clear example of why this is the top two in the division.
 
if i have missed any players out in this report may i apologise at this point, but along with the rest of the supporters i just could keep my eye off the pitch to scribble down all the action in what was end to end stuff. some of the substitutions i couldnt keep up with.
