A damp day but luckily the rain held off. Immediately Vernon put our defence under pressure and Cotgrave conceeded a goal to make the score 1.0.

We had a near miss when Kieren shot wide of the goal.

Harrison who was team captain today, endured some pretty tough tackling down the right hand side.Louis also played really well assisting Harrison with the battle on the right side. Clarke had some fantastic moments as he managed to save further attempts by Vernon.However, minutes later Vernon scored 3 goals in quick succession. Jordan, Jacob & Luke S fought very hard to keep further goals out but just before half time Vernon made it 5.0.

Second half, Adam went into goal and Kieren was replaced by James. Cotgrave began to attack and 6 minutes in to the second half Jordan took a free kick which went in to the corner of the net 5.1. Good solid tackling by James and brilliant defending by Jacob kept Vernon out.

Ben and Luke H came on to replace Jacob & Louis.

The game continued with fast and hard tackles by Vernon. Jordan,and Harrison continued to pressure their defence. Harrison got through into their penalty area and was about to shoot, when he appeared to be unfairly tackled. This resulted in Harrison being carried off. Liam Hutchinson came on, his first league game and at one stage he beat three of the Vernon players. Luke H was defending stoutly, but Vernon were able to score their final goal to make the score 6.1

Towards the end of the game Adam in goal with a 3 on 1 situation heroically stopped the ball going in to the net.

In the second half the Cotgrave team battled away to gain some dominance over the Vernon team and they should be really proud of their efforts after the disapointments of allowing Vernon to score 5 goals in the first half.

Well done to Harrison who was man of the match.
