After a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, in a game that saw there was nothing
to choose between the two sides, both teams would be looking forward to this
fixture.

When the game kicked off, it was obvious to see that both teams were geared
up for this match. An early chance fell to the Netherfield captain but his
effort went wide and didn’t bother Clark in the Cotgrave goal. The clarets
responded quickly with Luis having an attempt on goal, which fell into the
keepers hands.

The first few minutes of the match was looking pretty even. Netherfield were
challenging Cotgrave. Some great display of skill and teamwork was shown
when there was a good interchange between Jordan, Luis and Harry setting up
Kieran for a shot. A great effort by Kieran but the ball went off the other
side of the near post.

Cotgrave were looking confident and were now starting to get the upper hand.
Jordan and Kieran both had good shots on goal. Luke Sissons and Jacob looked
solid and were sniffing out any Netherfield attacks, with some great
defending and distribution. Harry showed his defending skills when he put in
a fine challenge on the Netherfield winger.

Eight minutes till half time Jordan broke through the heart of the
Netherfield defence and his low drive into the bottom right hand corner of
the net, was nothing short of excellent.

It didn’t take Harry long to get in on the act. A neat ball from Kieran let
the Cotgrave number 10 add another great strike to his ever growing
collection. After a great performance, Kieran took a rest and made way for James to come
on the left side of midfield. He made an impressive start with a couple of
good challenges.

Netherfield finished slightly stronger in the closing minutes of the first
half.

A good half time talk from Carl saw our boys come flying out the blocks. A
lovely little ball from Jordan put Luis in, but the Netherfield defender
made a strong challenge and the ball ran out of play. Seconds later Jordan
found Luis again. Only this time his shot smashed in off the post to make it
3 – 0.

Literally moments later Luis beat two Netherfield defenders and placed his
left footed shot neatly into the bottom corner of the oppositions net.
The whole team were now working really hard for each other and it showed in
their play.

Carl then made some changes; Ben, Luke Hopper and Adam all came on and were
equally as good with strong performances, all three making good challenges
and excellent passing.

The closing minutes saw Netherfield having a dominant spell, which brought
Clark into the action to make a few timely stops.
Netherfield got what they deserved. A well worked move allowed Daniel
Bridges to get a great finished goal for his side.

Netherfield never stopped working hard right up to the final whistle. It was
a great performance from all of the Cotgrave squad, against a good side.
