Ruddington Village Colts 0 Cotgrave Colts 9
18th November 2007

From the start Cotgrave took control, when a cross from Kieran put Harrison through to open the score in the first 5 minutes. Ruddington kicked off and Cotgrave got posession again, and it was a one two between Jordan and Kieran then Kieran went on to make the score 2-0. Ruddington attacked but Luke and Jacob kept our defence solid. When this broke down, Cotgrave forwards advanced and created a goal which was scored by Harrison. Ruddington kicked off again, however, posession was quickly gained by Cotgrave. Jordan had a shot which was saved, the ball came outside the penalty area and it was fired in the net by James to give a 4-0 lead to Cotgrave at half time.

Half time: Ruddington 0 Cotgrave 4

Second half, the rain continued to fall and the cold wind made conditions very difficult. Nevertheless both teams contributed towards a very competitive game. From the kick-off Jordan passed to Harrison, he had an attempt on goal but the keeper was able to push it out and Adam scored with a tap in to make it 5-0. Cotgrave pressed on with a further two goals from Jordan. In both cases he intercepted balls in the midfield and started several promising moves which led to him scoring both of these goals. The efforts of Jacob and Luke Sissons at the back broke down the persistent attacks of the Ruddington forwards which gave them little opportunity to shoot at goal.

Despite the cold conditions Clarke was not required to make many saves, but towards the end he made a couple of fantastic saves, which showed that he had maintained his concentration. The final goal came from Luke Hopper, who celebrated his first goal for the club.

Full time: Ruddington 0 Cotgrave 9

Well done lads, especially to Adam, Luke Hopper and James for scoring their first goals. Also to Jordan for being man of the match. We missed Lewis today, get well soon.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and supporters for cheering us along on such a cold and wet day.

I took the score and scorers from the above well written report by Marlow. The report states 0-8, however, I have been informed that the actual score was 0-9. I appreciate it's probably difficult to feel your fingers on these cold November mornings never mind count on them :p

The missing goal scored by Adam Ward. I have amended goal scorers chart to show Adam scored 2 goals. I apologise to Luke Hopper, who I wrongly credited his first goal for the Colts to Luke Sissons. Well done Luke and all the U8's.

Well done to the under 8s, this is the first time I have seen the side play. I was very impressed with the quality of football played throughout the side, especially I think it was Luke Sissons at the back (captains armband on).

If you continue to play like this then you have a very good chance of competing at a high level in children's football. Well done to the parents and supporters who followed the side on a terrible day with the weather.

Did you see things differently? Do you have anything to add? We will add feedback to the bottom of the report, but PLEASE refrain from personal criticism, whether it is players, referee, linesman, managers etc. If you do, then it will not be added. Try as much as possible to keep it positive.
