played some great football again this week. Every player battled to win
the ball and defended well. Keenan Berry had a lot of possession down the
right wing, and kept putting the Kimberley defence under pressure every
time he got the ball and ran at them. We created some great chances in the
first half to take the lead, and Liam Hurworths thundering strike from outside
the area was only stopped by the crossbar. Kimberley only really got into
the game with just 5 minutes of the first half remaining, and managed to
take the lead from a quick counter attack. Apart from the goal Kimberely
scored, Jake only had a couple of saves to make. Half time- Kimberley 1-0 Cotgrave Colts |
| After a good half time talk, the lads remained positive and believed they could go on and win the game. Unfortunately, Kimberley started the second half more livelier, and went on to get a second goal. Cotgrave were still very much in the game, but a few players were starting to get tired. We made a few changes, but didn't quite manage to keep our shape as well as we did in the first half. Kimberley took a great corner and the ball managed to bounce off a Kimberley players head, and straight into the top corner. It looked like a fantastic goal, but I think it was more luck than anything. We then managed to break quickly late on and grab a consolation goal in the last few minutes through Johnny Commins, who lobbed the keeper from 20 yards out. |
| Summary We played well as a team today and kept battling throughout the game. If we had taken our chances in the first half, I think we would of gone on to win the game. Well done lads for your efforts today, you should all be proud of your performances. Man of the Match goes to Keenan Berry for scaring the living daylights out of the Kimberley defence |
Feedback: name: Ian Goulding Involvement: Cotgrave Supporter Well done again lads, the battling qualities you have shown in the last couple of games will stand you in good stead, when you are put in your division next season. I expect to see you next season near the top if you carry on with this effort, skill and commitment. |
Did you see things differently? Do you have anything to add? We will add feedback to the bottom of the report, but PLEASE refrain from personal criticism, whether it is players, referee, linesman, managers etc. If you do, then it will not be added. Try as much as possible to keep it positive.
